India-Nepal Relationship (Historical)

The official start of Indo-Nepal was started in 1950 with the signing of Indo-Nepalese friendship treaty. Rulers of Nepal (Rana) welcomed close relations with India because of the fear of China backed communist overthrow of their autocratic regime.

Indian Assistance To Nepal:-
India and Nepal share close ties with each other and India always helped nepal in the time of need, for example on 24th May 2015 when an earthquake of 7.8 magnitude struck Nepal then India sent it's airforce and NDRF teams for assistance and also an aid of $1Billion was also provided.

Culture & Economy relation:-
By open borders and deep-rooted people to people contacts of kinship and culture. More than 600000 Indians live in Nepal and even more Nepalese live in India hense India and Nepal share a very unique bond. Since 1996, Nepal’s exports to India have grown more than eleven times and bilateral trade more than seven times and apart from this India regularly give aid for the development of Nepal from grass root level.

Water Resource & Education:-
India also provide 3000 scholarships/seats annually to Nepali nationals.
A three-tier mechanism was also established in 2008 to discuss all bilateral issues relating to cooperation in water resources and hydropower and also Government of India has been providing assistance to Nepal for strengthening and extension of embankments along Lalbakeya, Bagmati and Kamla rivers.

Border Issues & Communist Govt:-
In every relationship issues. India and Nepal also faces border disputes at different locations like Leipulek, Kalapani and Limpiyadhura as these territories are claimed by Nepal. The Indo Nepal relations were strained  when the communists started governing Nepal, since the communist govt worked in favour of China and tried to raise distrust among the citizens of both nations. To downgrade it further some fake Nepali accounts were also found who were actually operated from Pakistan to create a gap between the netizens of both nation. Now it's high time for both the nation to start dialogue and discussions to resolve issues and take the Indo-Nepal relations to another level.
